HBO 24/7 Mayweather vs Ortiz will air on CNN

The comeback of Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s return to the ring after a 16-month of inactivity will face against welterweight champion Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. HBO will cover the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight live. Before the fight HBO will broadcast the 24/7 episode and will include coverage of the buildup on CNN, plus the live fight being show in hundreds of movie theaters
nationwide.

Mayweather vs Ortiz HBO 24/7 Episode 1 will air on CNN on Saturday, August 27 at midnight ET/PT, following the HBO premiere at 10p ET/PT. Episode two will air on CNN on Saturday, September 3 at 12 midnight ET/PT. Finally, episodes three and four will air back-to-back on CNN on Friday, September 16 at 12 midnight ET/PT, less than 24 hours before the mega-fight in Las Vegas. Mayweather-Ortiz, along with the rest of the Sept. 17 pay-per-view telecast, will be shown in HD in more than 380 movie theaters across the country under a deal between Golden Boy Promotions and NCM Fathom.

This will be Victor Ortiz's first appearance in a 24/7 series while this will be Floyd's fifth. Ortiz is considered as Boxing's newest star after defeating Andre Berto and acquiring the WBC Welterweight Belt. On September 17, Victor will put this belt on the line against Mayweather, who last fought 16 months ago.

CNN also plans to air episodes of "HBO 24/7 Mayweather vs Ortiz" as part of the promotion for pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao's third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, which takes place Nov. 12 on HBO PPV and also at the MGM Grand. Top Rank's Bob Arum, reveal those plans when he announced last week that he had made a deal with HBO PPV over rival Showtime PPV to produce and distribute the fight.
